God has been crazy blessing Mitchell and I, through our t-shirt selling 'business'. For our first order, we had 45 shirts - awesome! But, some of those included my brother and I getting two each, then my parents. So it was only about 30 something that we sold. Still a great number. And we made a decent amount of money on them that went towards our trip, which was sweet.
However, once we got our shirts in and people started wearing them, that's when things got crazy. Within less than 1 week, we already have gotten 45 orders for more t-shirts!!!! (and that number is still growing!)
My brother is one excellent salesman. Yesterday, the mayor of Oshawa came to this place called The Living Room downtown Oshawa. The Living Room is a new, unique place where people of all ages can come, explore + use their creative self-expression through different forms of art. My brother has been going to there periodically for the past few Wednesdays, and yesterday he went and the mayor was there.
My brother and his best friend were wearing our Guatemala t-shirts when they met him, and so naturally my brother started to talk to Mr. John Henry about our trip and what our t-shirts mean. He ended up selling a shirt to our very own MAYOR.
My brother is amazing. He is so good at talking to people and striking up conversations with anyone and everyone. I love being his partner in this, because my role has been more the social media/advertising/promoting side. I, too, have friends that have reached out to me wanting to order shirts, or I have reached out to certain people such as my co-workers, but Mitchell has been out there at school and work every day talking to people and sharing our story.
All of this would not be possible without God. We have been praying over our trip and our fundraiser every day, and just thanking Him for each and every person who has blessed us in one way or another. We see God working and we are thankful to have a fundraiser that people are interested in, people can wear and advertise for us + that actually makes us a decent amount of money towards our trip.
We know that we are meant to go on this trip, and we are certain that the money will come. But, we are still a long ways away from our goal. So we are praying, trusting and passionately sharing our story with the world. We believe that if others are inspired by our story + our mission, then they will want to help us get there by supporting us (t-shirts!) or partnering with us (finances!) AND with their prayers! We are so thankful to all those who have been praying for us and who tell us that they will be praying for our trip.
Okay, I said I have no words. But really I had quite a few. The reality is, God's grace makes me speechless sometimes. And that's all I have to say.
